The Common Approach to Impact Measurement is a community of non-profits, social purpose organizations (SPOs), grantmakers, investors and academics building a better way to measure social impact.

This webinar takes a deep dive into the recommendations made in the report and the process by which they were developed. This includes learnings from the Campus Assessment Tool pilot, a participatory research project that saw students assess their campus mental health systems and understand/address their associated strengths and gaps.

In 2008/09, the Algonquin College Counselling Services team began using LEAN tools to inform improvements to the service delivery, with great effect. In 2017/18, as the numbers of students presenting at Counselling Services continued to rise, the decision was made to implement the Stepped Care 2.0 model at the College. This presentation reviews changes made over the 10 years and outlines the spectacular results that have followed.

A new youth-led report released by Jack.org outlines how adult allies can better support and promote youth mental health across Canada.

The Campus Assessment Tool (CAT) is a five-part, youth-led participatory research tool designed to support the advocacy work of student-run Jack Chapters. Ten post-secondary chapters across Canada were invited to take part in this pilot project, which launched in December 2018. The CAT guides young people through a process of understanding how their campus communities serve, protect, and promote youth mental health. 

Learn about the movement for QI in healthcare settings, the Model for Improvement and how applying QI tools have enhanced community-based mental health and addictions supports in Ontario, such as projects to reduce wait times and no-shows for counselling services. The webinar concludes by reviewing some common quality issues impacting campus programs with a Q & A period on how institutions may apply QI tools in their setting.

This interactive session provided participants with a brief overview of assessment and evaluation trends in campus mental health. Panelists provided highlights of clinical and program evaluation outcomes (Sandra Yuen, University of Toronto), climate studies (Lina Di Genova, McGill University) and data from the University of Calgary’s campus-wide mental health strategy framework (Andrew Szeto). Participants were invited to engage in an assessment exercise to guide the Best Practices Network’s next steps!

The University of Calgary launched its Student Mental Health Strategy in December 2015 with 28 strategic recommendations. Progress on these 28 strategic recommendations is reported through the progress dashboard. 

Developed by the Ontario Ministry of Health, HEIA is a decision support tool to identify how programs, policies or other initiatives will impact population groups through surfacing potential unintended impacts. The tool aims to assist users in promoting more equitable delivery of programs, services, and policies by maximizing positive impacts whilst reducing potential negative impacts that could widen health disparities between populations.
