University of Toronto 2026 Inlight Research Development Grants Program – Now Open!

Apply now to the Inlight Research Development Grants, providing up to $10,000 to support the development of research, community-building and knowledge mobilization activities!

The Inlight Student Mental Health Research Initiative is excited to announce the 2026 Inlight Research Development Grant program. The Inlight Research Development Grants will support the development of research, community-building and knowledge mobilization activities that have a primary focus on post-secondary student mental health and wellness.

Application submission is a two-step process:  

Step 1: A brief Notice of Intent is due February 18th (5pm EST).
Step 2: Full applications must be submitted by March 9th (5pm EST) .

Funding Streams

Grants will be considered that support the following streams of activities:

  • Research Catalyst for early-stage research with the potential to catalyze larger projects
  • Community Building, Planning and Partnership Development activities to develop research teams and/or programs  
  • Implementation Science in the Pedagogy Space, including the design and evaluation of classroom innovation
  • Knowledge Mobilization Activities that will disseminate evidence-based research and interventions, driving research innovation into practice

Eligibility

Principal applicants must be  eligible to hold research funding at the University of Toronto (U of T) as a primary investigator, and all grant applications must have a co-applicant who is an identified knowledge user.  Team composition should include co-applicants and collaborators who bring the full range of perspectives necessary for the success of the project, including across UofT divisions and campuses, as well as community partner representation.
