The Mindful Campus InitiativeSep 26, 2024 | Centre for Mindfulness Studies
Funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada and developed by the Centre for Mindfulness Studies, the Mindful Campus is an initiative for art and design students that aims to strengthen students’ coping abilities and foster an encouraging environment where artists and designers, especially those from underrepresented groups, can thrive.
The initiative involves participation from six post-secondary institutions with OCAD University as the lead site and NSCAD University, Concordia’s Faculty of Fine Arts, Seneca’s School of Creative Arts and Animation, and York University’s School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design.
“Mindful Campus” is modeled on mindfulness-based interventions for young adults, originally developed and delivered by the Centre for Mindfulness Studies. The centre has tailored these programs to focus on mental health, well-being, and the development of coping and resilience skills for this new initiative.
