The Counseling Center Assessment of Psychological Symptoms (CCAPS) is an assessment instrument created by Counseling & Psychological Services at the University of Michigan. Managed by the Centre for Collegiate Mental Health (CCMH), the CCAPS was created to meet the clinical, research, and administrative needs of postsecondary counselling centers. CCAPS has robust psychometric qualities and a well-balanced rational/empirical framework that aligns closely with clinical practice in counseling centers. It also offers peer-based norms, which are regularly updated from extensive sample groups.

The current CCAPS norms are based on data from 488,190 students who sought counseling services at institutions across the United States between 2022 and 2024. Due to the substantial size and diversity of this norming group, clinicians can be highly assured that a scored CCAPS profile delivers a current, relevant, and precise assessment. The CCAPS norms are continuously updated and refined as new data emerges.
