Hosted by the Canadian Evaluation Society and facilitated by Molly den Heyer, PhDT, this workshop offers attendees a broad introduction to Logical Frameworks and Theories of Change, including how they are applied to design, execute, and assess social initiatives.
Attendees will learn how to:
- Grasp and explain how logical frameworks and theories of change are applied in social initiatives, especially in relation to planning, tracking, and evaluation
- Develop a basic theory of change that illustrates the links between activities and short-, medium-, and long-term outcomes
- Recognize the importance of stakeholder involvement in shaping and sustaining a collective understanding of how actions contribute to intended impacts
- Pinpoint potential risks and underlying assumptions that support a theory of change
- Apply a theory of change as a foundation for building monitoring and evaluation systems, particularly for measuring progress along the theory’s causal pathways
- Examine the variety of theory of change models and different ways they can be visually or conceptually represented
