Meaghan Blake is a Counsellor-Psychotherapist, and the Chairperson of the Psychological and Career Counselling team at John Abbott College. She completed a Bachelor of Arts – Honours Psychology (McGill University) in 2009, and Master of Arts – Counselling Psychology (McGill University) in 2011. In her current role at JAC, she is responsible for overseeing the College’s alignment with the National Standard for Mental Health and Well-being for Post-Secondary Students / Plan d’action sur la santé mentale étudiante en enseignement supérieur (QC) and supporting the College in meeting its Strategic Plan objectives pertaining to well-being. Meaghan has also worked as a principal investigator for the College’s participation in the Canadian Campus Well-Being Survey (2022 & 2024). Meaghan, along with her wonderful team of Counselling colleagues, is passionate about “stepped-care” & continuously improving access to services through a variety of service offerings, building mental health literacy within the campus community by offering trainings on suicide prevention and supporting students in distress, and meeting the diverse needs of our students through new and innovative projects (eg. SOAR mentorship program for BIPOC students, for which we received a Bell Let’s Talk Post-Secondary Fund – Implementation Grant).
